A four-day workshop split into two parts:
Part One – Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st March 2019
TOTAL COST OF PART ONE £175
£90 deposit. Balance of £85 will be requested 8 weeks before class date
Workshop One will start by looking at the background context of the artefact, before exploring the manuscript’s content and construction. Students will have an opportunity to create their own folded book in order to understand the tangible qualities of making and using a manuscript of this type. This workshop will also examine MS.8932’s binding and how it compares to other contemporary work. Students can then reconstruct some of the binding components. In this preliminary workshop, students will also be able to make a small start into investigating the embroidery used on the outer cover of the binding by looking at the process of analysis and setting the scene of delving deeper into the manner in which this medieval marvel was worked.
The classes will be held in Ottery St Mary
Times: 10.00am to 4.00 pm
